Your appointments and psychiatric care are still provided by Wanderlust Psychiatry.

Think of Headway as helping with the insurance side of your care — you’ll use their platform to verify your coverage and begin scheduling with us.

What to check with your insurance plan:

  • Whether you have in-network behavioral health coverage for telehealth psychiatry
  • Your expected copay or coinsurance
  • Whether you have a deductible and if it must be met before benefits apply
  • Whether your plan requires a referral or prior authorization

How Headway helps:
When you create your Headway account and enter your insurance information, Headway will verify your eligibility and benefits and provide an estimate of your expected cost before your appointment.

Good to know: Insurance coverage can vary by individual plan and state. If you’d like additional reassurance, you can also contact the member services number on the back of your insurance card to confirm your behavioral health and telehealth benefits.

Step-by-Step instructions to book with us through Headway:

  1. Create/verify your Headway account (add insurance + payment method).
  2. They will verify your benefits – typically takes 3–5 days.
  3. Headway will then email notify you about 1) your copay amount and 2) invite you to schedule our first session together.
  4. Last step: we’ll email you asking for your consent to our standard terms & agreement. We kindly ask these signed within 48 hours of our first appointment.

Don’t See Your Insurance Listed?

You may still be able to use your out-of-network benefits. With out-of-network care, you pay Wanderlust directly and we can provide a superbill—an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Your reimbursement depends on your individual plan, including your out-of-network deductible, coinsurance, and your insurer’s allowed amount.

Want to estimate your benefits first? Use our insurance verifier through Reimbursify to see what your plan may reimburse.

Some insurance plans include out-of-network mental health benefits, while others do not. You can check your benefits through our Reimbursify insurance verifier or contact your insurance company directly.

Ask whether your plan includes outpatient, out-of-network mental health or psychiatric benefits and whether those benefits apply to telehealth services.

Reimbursement varies significantly by plan. Your insurance company may consider your out-of-network deductible, coinsurance, and its allowed amount for the service when determining reimbursement.

Because these amounts are determined by your insurer, Wanderlust cannot guarantee how much you will receive back. You can use our Reimbursify benefit verifier or contact your insurance company for an estimate before scheduling.

A superbill is an itemized document that includes information your insurance company may need to process an out-of-network claim, such as the services provided, diagnostic and billing codes, provider information, and amount paid.

After you pay Wanderlust directly for your appointment, we can provide a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Yes. For out-of-network care, you pay Wanderlust directly at the time of service. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, you can then submit your superbill to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Any reimbursement is paid according to the terms of your individual insurance plan.

When calling your insurance company, you may want to ask:

• Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health or psychiatric care?
• What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much have I met?
• What is my coinsurance after the deductible is met?
• Are telehealth psychiatric services eligible for reimbursement?
• Is preauthorization required?
• How do I submit an out-of-network claim or superbill?
