If you’ve ever felt stuck trying to find an in-network psychiatrist, you’re not alone. Long waitlists, limited availability, and rushed appointments are common barriers that leave many people feeling unseen and unsupported. But there’s another option—one that gives you faster access, more personalized care, and greater flexibility: working with an out-of-network provider. At Wanderlust Psychiatry, we know this decision can feel overwhelming, especially when finances are involved. So let’s break it down.
1. Shorter Wait Times Mean Sooner Support. Many in-network providers are booked out for months. But mental health support should never be out of reach when you need it most. As an out-of-network provider, we can typically schedule new clients within 1–2 weeks—so you can get care when you need it, not months later.
2. More Time, More Connection. Insurance constraints often limit in-network visits to brief check-ins. At Wanderlust Psychiatry, we set our own pace. That means more time per session, more focus on your goals, and care that meets youwhere you are—without rushing the process.
3. You Can Still Get Reimbursed. Many people don’t realize you can still use your insurance when seeing an out-of-network provider. We give you a superbill—a detailed receipt you submit to your insurance. Depending onyour plan, you could be reimbursed 60–80% of the cost, especially after your deductible is met.
4. We’ll Help You Navigate the Process. Superbills and claims can sound complicated, but we’re here to make it easy. We’ll walk you through how to check your benefits and submit your claims. You can also use tools like Mentaya or Thrizer to simplify the reimbursement process.
5. Personalized, Compassionate Care You Deserve. When you’re with Wanderlust Psychiatry, you’re not just a name on a chart. You get thoughtful, trauma-informed psychiatric care that puts your needs first. We buildcare plans around your goals—not your insurance company’s restrictions.
Your initial evaluation lasts about 60 minutes (or as long as 90 minutes) andgives us time to explore your mental health history, symptoms, goals, and any previous treatments you’ve tried. By the end of the session, we’ll discuss your diagnosis (if applicable), outline your treatment plan, and talk throughmedication options if appropriate.
-Complete all intake forms at least 24 hours beforeyour appointment
– Choose a private, quiet space with reliable internet for your telehealthsession
– Bring any relevant mental health or medication records you’d like me to review
– Consider what you hope to get out of our time together—no pressure, justreflection
At Wanderlust Psychiatry, we’re committed to transparency and fairness. We charge one consistent rate, regardless of whether you use insurance or not. We also provide a superbill after each session—a detailed receipt you can send to your insurance company to request partial reimbursement. Many of our clients are reimbursed 60–80% of the cost, especially after they’ve met their deductible. The only time you might expect to see add-on costs is for additional forms and paperwork that require our attention outside of appointments.
